Dryer Vent Through Floor Joist
The sill plate is atypical too.
Dryer vent through floor joist. I originally thought the window was a foundation vent since there is another joist between the duct can t be put through the middle of the span but must be offset to one side. I plan on having a soffit along the edge of my basement to conceal this pipe. Due to the shape of the house going straight out of the house in the floor joist pocket it is in is not an option. It looks to be more like a 4x6 with the floor joist notched and resting on it.
Otherwise you would have to mount the box upside down and cut a huge hole through the floor. Yes cutting anything on the i joist is a no no and wouldn t or shouldn t pass inspection. As for the location of the dryer vent that depends upon the dryer. Any structural problems with drilling a 6 hole in a 10 inch rim joist over a poured foundation 9 actual.
Getting ready to finish my basement. I plan to cut a hole in the rim joist above the foundation and then rout duct under the rest of the joists. Clamp the vent pipe to the dryer s vent outlet with a pipe clamp and tighten the clamp with a screwdriver. Dryer box makes a box for your application the down box.
The red line being the duct its the only possible outside wall unless i go through the attic. The problem is in the way there is that 2x10 joist that runs the length of the garage 18 feet. In the picture i attached is how the floor joists were setup and where the dryer is and where it needs to vent. Builder ran the dryer vent down below floor joist over 1 up between the joists and then straight out of the house.
It will go into the crawl space and out through the closes wall my question is after i cut my 4 1 8 hole through the floor what do i put through the hole and how is it attached. Extend the pipe through the hole in the wall or floor and route it toward the vent cap. Is your intention to make a upward sloping drywall ramp to expose the full window. I need to install a 4 dryer vent thru my floor of my laundry room the reason for going thru thr floor is because the room is in the middle of the house and there s no exterior wall in the room.
By the way this duct would end up in front of the window wouldn t it.
